Follow the ABCs below to preserve your wooden kitchen supplies, including wooden-sheathed knives, wooden knife blocks, and wooden cutting boards

My wooden kitchen supplies look really bad/dry/old/gross. What do I do?
a. Scrub them with hot, soapy water, and pat dry with a clean towel
b. Leave them out to dry for several more hours
c. After they have dried completely, acquire butcher block conditioner (this consists of a mixture of mineral oil and beeswax) and cotton balls
d. Squeeze a dime-sized amount of butcher block conditioner on to a cotton ball
e. Rub the butcher block conditioner into them until a thin, shiny sheen is visible; use more butcher block conditioner if necessary
f. Leave them out to air dry for one day
g. Repeat steps (d) through (f)
h. Your wooden kitchen supplies should look like new, and you can begin reusing them
i. Every month, re-condition your wooden kitchen supplies by repeating steps (d) through (f)

OTHER NOTES
– Never leave your wooden kitchen supplies immersed in water. They will eventually crack.
– After using wooden kitchen supplies, promptly wash them with hot, soapy water, and pat dry with a clean towel quickly afterwards.
– You can use the same methods on bamboo kitchen supplies, as well.
